Embracing Missional Motherhood

Updated: Mar 17, 2021

To be honest, motherhood has been such a roller coaster for me.

While it seemed like other moms strode gracefully into this role, I felt like I was drowning. It still do. (How did my mom make it seem so easy?) Don’t get me wrong, I love my kid. He is one of my greatest treasures and I have the absolute honour of being his mom BUT this role is also TOUGH. In fact, I think it is the hardest thing that I have ever had the privilege of doing. Make sense?

Charlene VandenBrink is a personal friend who I have seen leading her children (all million of them.. Kidding, all six but who’s counting?) with love, kindness and courage. She is on a mission to be ‘missionally minded’ in the way she is teaching her kids to follow Jesus and she does an incredible job of doing so. This episode is packed with practical strategies. We can all learn from this episode, no matter the life stage.

Charlene VandenBrink started as a newly married school teacher and has been living the mission of motherhood through birthing and homeschooling her six children over the last decade. She inspires women to shine the light of Jesus where they are planted. When she isn't homeschooling, folding laundry, changing diapers or enjoying a long walk, she strings together soulful stories and shares resources for the beauty and struggles on roads less traveled.
